Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteers of all ages are invaluable to DEAN Foundation's Hospice & Palliative Care Centre. The time and unique talents they offer, add to the quality of life of our patients. Each volunteer receives extensive training whether you choose to work directly with patients and families or volunteer for the programme's many other needs.

There are many ways to volunteer at our Centre and make a contribution to your community :

 

Resource Mobilization 

 

  • Keep Collection Boxes in strategic places send proposals, Letters, emails, make presentations to prospective donors 
  • Organize Events like First Day First Show, an evening with a Film Star, a Musical, etc.
  • Liaison with the Media 
  • Create Awareness on the Philosophy of Hospice and Palliative Care at Schools, Colleges, Corporates, Public Places 

 

 

Administration

 

  • Handle Phone calls 
  • Update registers 
  • Bulk mailing 
  • Actively partake in the activities / celebrations of the Trust 
  • Co-ordinate with other Volunteers and handle their Induction Programme
  • Network with other NGOs, Doctors, Educational Institutions and correspond regularly with them
  • Maintain Customer Data Base for Research purposes
  • Maintain the Website, increase DEAN Foundation's presence on Social Media
  • Bring out Newsletters / Write Articles
  • Improve and Increase Patient Referrals

 

 

Create Awareness

Create awareness about helping those facing end-of-life issues in schools, workplaces, faith based organizations, other communities and at formal and informal gatherings.

 

 

Patient Care

 

  • Provide support to family during acute or terminal phase of illness
  • Be available to visit and maintain vigil with dying person if appropriate
  • Organize donation in kind like food packets, clothes, medical accessories, etc. and distribute the same to patients 
  • Facilitate Support groups 
  • Make telephone calls or visit bereaved family members, write personalized bereavement notes, and assist with bereavement support groups

 

 

Here are other ways of giving

 
  • Arrange for a Hospice representative to talk to your club or organization.
  • Arrange for a Hospice representative to talk to your club or organization.
  • Become a Volunteer and help others. o Arrange for our collection boxes to be placed in your local shop, hotel or workplace.
  • Encourage your employer and colleagues to start a payroll-giving scheme.
  • Organize a function or an event Talk about our work to others, arrange visits, introduce friends.
  • Remember DEAN Foundation when making your will for eg. request the cost of flowers, garlands and wreaths to be donated to the Foundation.
  • Give used clothes, bed sheets, towels, soup packets, rice, sugar etc.

Our endeavour is to provide every Indian the basic Human Right to Palliative Care to die with dignity and without pain.
